Sharianne Ali-Quirk

Vice Chair & House Manager

I’m English/Malaysian, born in the UK and spent my early childhood in Malaysia, before leaving for boarding school in West Yorkshire at the age of 11. I gained a degree in Psychology & International Relations, before moving on to a MSc in Criminology. My career “BC” (before children) was in the criminal justice field. I worked for the Crown Prosecution Service and then the Gloucestershire Constabulary, and immensely enjoyed my work.
I returned “full time” to KL 15 years ago with my husband, when he got a teaching job at the Alice Smith School. Since then, we have enjoyed regional and domestic travel and holidays, and food (!) and we now have 2 daughters, fast growing up.
I have been involved in the ABWM since I first arrived in KL in 2005. Some members will still remember my Mum, Glenis, who lived in Malaysia since the ‘60s and was an early member of the ABWM. My first role with the ABWM was in 2005 as Secretary; then when I became a Mum, I was the Young Families Co Ordinator, then Assistant House Manager. I have now been HouseManager for the last 6 years. I have immensely enjoyed my time with the ABWM, and continue to do so. It is a fantastic, supportive organisation and I have met so many wonderful people through it.
