Sally Addington

In July 2026, the Committee was delighted when Sally Addington accepted our invitation to become Patron of the Association.

Traditionally, the role of Patron has been held by the wife of the British High Commissioner. This year, however, the Committee unanimously agreed that the role should be offered to someone whose long-standing commitment to our community, wealth of experience and unwavering support for the Association made them an outstanding ambassador.

Sally has called Kuala Lumpur home for more than 30 years and is well known to many members. A former Chair of the Association, accomplished cook, keen bridge player and regular quiz night enthusiast, she brings a remarkable breadth of knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to everything she does. If indefatigable were a person, it would be Sally.

We are honoured that Sally has agreed to be our Patron and look forward to her continuing to champion the Association in the years ahead.

Sally Addington has been a familiar and much-valued member of the British community in Kuala Lumpur for over 35 years. Throughout that time, she has devoted countless hours to supporting charities, community organisations and voluntary groups, earning a reputation for her energy, generosity and commitment to helping others.

Beyond the Association, Sally has played an active role in organisations including MANZA, the International Business Union (IBU), the Malaysian Culture Group and the Royal Society of St George, where she served as President in 2019. She was also an inaugural member and former Chairman of the KL Players.

A former Chair of the Association of British Women in Malaysia (2011 to 2013), Sally has supported the Association for many years in numerous volunteer roles. She has also contributed extensively to the ABWM magazine and served as a dedicated Linklady for more than two decades.

A lifelong music enthusiast, Sally has sung with several choirs and is a co-founder of Vox Suara. Her breadth of experience, enthusiasm and enduring commitment to community life make her an outstanding Patron for the Association.
