HEI’s mission is to promote and protect the health rights of marginalised communities. They work primarily with refugees and asylum seekers from Myanmar, Iran, Sri Lanka, Syria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Most refugees hope for resettlement in a third country such as America, Australia, or the UK, and require skills to succeed once they reach there.
Examples of help required include: Providing a practical knowledge class in the areas of sewing, knitting, or cooking, teaching budgeting skills, providing lessons on basic hygiene such as correct hand washing or food cleaning, sharing every day information such as traffic/pedestrian rules or simply have light conversation to improve English skills.
